Business skills and thinking have application far beyond the business world, and the ability to think with a competitive mindset will give you an edge in any industry or organisation. The Advanced Diploma of Business will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to make a real impact in the workforce. Finance, critical thinking, business planning, leadership, and digital strategy are some of the essential areas this qualification covers.

 

This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of roles in a variety of industries. Individuals in these roles may have general management accountabilities and carry out complex tasks in a specialist field of expertise. They may undertake technical research and analysis, and will often contribute to setting the strategic direction for a work area. The qualification is suited to individuals who are responsible for the supervision and leadership of a team or work area.

Participants will benefit from a holistic and comprehensive learning programme, designed to impart practical skills and knowledge.  Training and assessment is practical, realistic and relevant, and directly applicable to any workplace and industry.  Sessions are supported by learning materials, readings and intensive coaching and mentoring by facilitators, as well as online, email and phone support. 

The course covers ten (10) units of competency, five (5) core units and five (5) elective units.  Units are drawn from the following:

CORE UNITS (5 units)

BSBCRT611 Apply critical thinking for complex problem solving

BSBFIN601 Manage organisational finances

BSBOPS601 Develop and implement business plans

BSBSUS601 Lead corporate social responsibility

BSBTEC601 Review organisational digital strategy

ELECTIVE UNITS

(Choose five (5) elective units from below, three (3) must be from Group A, with the additional two (2) from Group A or B)

BSBHRM614 Contribute to strategic workforce planning

BSBLDR601 Lead and manage organisational change

BSBSTR601 Manage innovative and continuous improvement

BSBSTR602 Develop organisational strategies

 

Group B 

BSBHRM613 Contribute to the development of learning and development strategies

BSBLDR602 Provide leadership across the organisation

BSBOPS504 Manage business risk

BSBPEF501 Manage personal and professional development

BSBXCM501 Lead communication in the workplace

Programme Overview

  • BSB60120 Advanced Diploma of Business

  • Duration: 1-3 years (part-time) 

  • Description: A guided programme of learning and development for those in business and those wanting to learn business skills and business thinking.

  • Accreditation: Level 6 on the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

  • Those working in small business; 

  • Supervisors, leaders, managers;

  • Those in public service and government who wish to develop a business mindset.

Entry Requirements

Candidates may enter the qualification through a number of entry points demonstrating potential to undertake study at advanced diploma level, such as:

  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma from the BSB Training Package

  • Two years equivalent full-time relevant workplace experience in an operational or leadership role in an enterprise.
